Your Installation options
When you’re having a new air conditioning system installed, we can offer you a number of options depending on your current setup.
New installation
A new air conditioner installation is perfect for properties without any current air conditioning installed. New air conditioning installation puts all the power in your hands: starting from a blank slate, you can choose what kind of AC system to install and how and where to install it to maximise efficiency and performance in your property.
Replacement installation
Replacement installation is the right service in properties where air conditioning is already installed but needs replacing. This is usually when older air conditioning is broken down and beyond repair. Air conditioning replacements can be more cost-effective if you choose to work with existing infrastructure, especially in the case of ducted air conditioning.
Measure and quote
Before any air conditioning installation can proceed, you’ll need to have a measure and quote. We will measure your space, talk with you about the nature of the air conditioning system you want to be installed, including which rooms need covering, and then offer a comprehensive quote for the installation.
How to choose an air conditioner
At Breeze Air Conditioning in Newcastle, we install both split system and ducted air conditioning, both of which are excellent systems for different reasons.
Ducted air conditioning is more costly and difficult to install, but once in place, it can provide efficient and effective heating and cooling across multiple regions of a home or property, as well as being significantly less intrusive visually than split system air conditioning units. For this reason, ducted air conditioning is often chosen for larger premises.
Split system air conditioning comes with a cheaper cost at the outset and can be installed very quickly by most installers. However, a split system air conditioning unit can usually only effectively cool or heat one room, making it ideal in smaller properties or in cases where only a few rooms are used regularly.
Choosing The Right Size Air Conditioner For Your Needs
When comparing air conditioners, make sure you account for the room size and your needs.
- A room 10 sq metres up to 25 sq metres would need a 2.6kw air conditioner.
- Rooms between 25 sq metres & 35 sq metres would need a 3.5kw unit.
- Rooms between 35 sq metres & 60 sq metres would need a 5kw–6kw air conditioner.
- For 60 sq metres to 80 sq metres spaces, you’d need a unit in the 7kw–8kw range.
You’ll often see the term ‘reverse-cycle’. This applies to air conditioning that cools but also heats. Both ducted and split systems can be reverse-cycle.

Air Conditioning Installation FAQ's
You will love having air conditioning because it keeps you comfortable during the heat of the summer. Here at Breeze Air Conditioning, we are the experts and have answers for everything you might be wondering about air conditioning.

How long does air conditioning installation take?
The length of time it takes to install air conditioning depends on a number of factors, including:
- The size of your home
- The type of air conditioning you are installing
- Whether you are installing a new system or replacing an old one
What Size Air Conditioner Do I Need?
We have several types of air conditioners available, including split system and ducted systems.
The size of your home plays the biggest role in what size air conditioner will meet your needs. A larger house won’t be adequately cooled with a small unit and a large unit on a small house can be overkill. Ducted systems will run throughout the house, while split system size will be dependent on the size of the room.

Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?
Making the decision of whether to repair or replace a broken AC unit is very personal, but generally speaking, we advise that AC is replaced when it is breaking down more regularly, or once it reaches 10-15 years in age. Replacing an older unit with a more efficient one could mean significant energy savings every year.

How Often Should I Service My Air Conditioner?
Proper maintenance and service for your air conditioner means it works optimally for as long as possible. Forgoing regular maintenance may forfeit your warranty so it’s important to keep up with it. Most experts recommend having your air conditioner serviced once per year, at least, usually in the spring. However, it’s also important to have the unit serviced anytime you suspect a problem or something isn’t working properly.
Check out our blog to learn more about how often you should get your air conditioner serviced.
How Often Do Filters Need to be Changed?
Your filter is something that shouldn’t be left to the once a year service call and is a job you can do yourself. How often your filter needs to be changed depends on several factors, including how often you use it. A general rule of thumb is to check your filter once a month. You’ll know it needs to be changed if it’s discoloured or clogged with debris. During the summer months, your filter may need to be changed as often as every two weeks.
How Long will my Air Conditioner Last?
This is another common question. Taking good care of your air conditioner is the best way to ensure that it lasts as long as possible. Good maintenance and care can mean up to 20 years of use out of your air conditioner. Newer models are built to last longer so if you have an older unit, you may be able to get more mileage out of a replacement if it’s time for a new one.
How should I maintain my air conditioning?
You can hopefully ensure your AC lasts longer by booking annual maintenance and servicing, as well as replacing any air filters once per year. We can give you proper instructions about looking after your unit once it has been installed.
